Your Healing Journey: Q & A

What can cause multiple miscarriages?

Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is defined as experiencing two or more consecutive miscarriages before 20 weeks. While miscarriage is common (affecting about 15% of pregnancies), recurrent loss is not, affecting 2% or fewer of women.

This heartbreaking experience can be related to several factors, and it is never your fault. Our work is to gently investigate potential imbalances, which may include:

  • Chromosomal or genetic abnormalities (from the egg or sperm)

  • Advanced maternal age (over 35)

  • A physical or structural abnormality of the uterus

  • Imbalances in the health of either the man or the woman

Experiencing this is profoundly devastating, and the stress it creates can, in itself, affect your future well-being. It is so important to reach out for gentle, restorative help.

How can you support me on this journey?

We lovingly refer to a pregnancy after loss as a "rainbow baby." Our team is deeply dedicated to helping you experience the miracle of childbirth and is here to nurture you every single step of the way.

We encourage you to come in for a supportive evaluation if you:

  • Have experienced spotting or rupture of membranes

  • Have had difficulty getting pregnant (infertility)

  • Are experiencing severe nausea and vomiting

  • Notice persistent, agonizing back and pelvic pain

  • Have not yet had a live birth

  • Are suffering from chronic fatigue

  • Are carrying the understandable anxiety that comes with pregnancy after loss

We provide comprehensive, gentle care for all of these challenges (and more) to help you find peace and a healthy pregnancy.

Can I prevent a miscarriage?

While no one can promise that every miscarriage is preventable, we can absolutely take gentle, proactive steps to nourish your body, create balance, and lower your risk for the future.

Your dedicated provider may recommend ongoing AcuGraph® acupuncture exams and treatments, in addition to:

  • Blue Poppy® Chinese herb supplements

  • Personalized diet and lifestyle changes

  • Conceivable customized supplements

  • EarSeeds® ear acupuncture

  • doTERRA® essential oils

  • Tuina massage

  • Navel cupping

  • Moxibustion
